‘Little Fingers’ is new research project exploring the aesthetics, nutrition, material properties and remediation potential of mushrooms focusing on both their mycelium network and fruiting bodies. The research will be split across 3 main areas: edible, material, mycoremediation.
Edible will explore the performance of growing mushrooms in the home.
Material will explore the possible mycelium materials that can be grown with a specific focus on object detail fidelity and strength.
Mycoremediation will explore the potential of mushrooms being used to break down consumer or factory waste. The image below is from the start of this research in which oyster mushroom spawn has been seeded on waste denim and cotton fabric.
